Myths about helicopters and safety

Are you worried about flying? Like most modes of transportation, there can be a lot of stigma and fear about flying in a plane or helicopter. From concerns over safety to the actual quality and efficiency of the helicopter itself, we are here to put your mind at ease.

To see how our team at Alpine Helicopters ensures our customers a safe and enjoyable flight, keep reading below!

Safety system and accreditation

One of the biggest myths people have about helicopter flights is that they are not safe. We can certainly say that this is NOT true. When you fly with Alpine Helicopters, safety is our main priority.

To ensure your safety and well-being, our company strictly follows a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA)-approved Operations Manual and Safety Management System. Furthermore, we are also an ISO 90001:2008 accredited company and are proud to boast an enviable safety record that dates back to the beginning of our operations back in 1985.

Keeping your safety in mind, we also take into consideration the weather for each and every booking. Depending on wind speed, visibility and cloud height among other factors, we will not risk your safety if the conditions aren’t right. Instead, we will help reschedule your trip for a safer time.

Fleet maintenance

When it comes to fleet maintenance, there is a lot of stigma around the helicopter malfunctioning. At Alpine Helicopters, we go above and beyond when it comes to maintaining our fleet. Not to mention we only house helicopters powered by turbine engines as they are more reliable, stable and efficient than piston helicopters.

Unlike our competitors, we own our entire fleet and have our own helicopter maintenance organisation, Aerotech Sydney Pty Ltd, where all our helicopters undergo regular inspection. Our dedicated maintenance facility is located at our main base in Parramatta and is ran by our staff of licensed helicopter engineers, so you know all work is done by qualified professionals.

Where other companies might not review an aircraft for up to 100 flight hours, our fleet of helicopters is being constantly reviewed and maintained daily. This assures each helicopter meets the highest of industry standards.

During all helicopter flights, you can feel safe knowing our pilots continuously undergo improvements and ongoing checks and training. Each pilot is licensed and fully qualified, so for your next helicopter ride through Sydney, you know you can enjoy the flight without any fear.

On top of years of experience, our pilots are collectively highly skilled. Their applications, as well as the services we offer, include tactical firefighting, aerial photography, film work and aerial crane and lifting operations. With this much skill and experience behind them, you will have nothing to worry about! View our Airwork page to see how else our company and pilots can service you.
